The Northern Elders’ Forum (NEF) yesterday spoke to the Nigerian elite to protect the country from what it depicted as “failed leaders”.
As per the gathering, the nation is in a delicate state.
The discussion, through its Director, Publicity and Advocacy, Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, said this in Abuja while talking at the ‘second Never Again Conference: 51 Years After Nigerian-Biafran Civil War’ coordinated by an Igbo think-tank, Nzuko Umunna.
He said the President Muhammadu Buhari had flopped in all parts of administration, approaching all benevolent Nigerians to adapt to the situation of making Nigeria extraordinary again by talking with one voice towards public union.
“We completed this battle in 1970 and inside four years, practically all the Igbos who had left the north who were as yet alive returned toward the north, they proceeded with their lives. Northerners moved toward the east and Nigeria proceeded onward.
“Here, we are 51 years subsequent to, mishandling one another, contesting history. It really is great that we are stating ‘Never Again’, yet we need to perceive, ‘Never What Again’? The post-common war world class has considerably bombed this nation, significantly more than the individuals who dove this nation into the calamity that finished in 1970.
“The tip top of Nigeria actually talks in a way that proposes that we are as yet battling a war. This implies this nation has not gained any ground whatsoever.
“We should be exceptionally cautious. We need history however our present and future ought not become hostages of the past. On the off chance that we do that, we won’t ever fix the issue, we will consistently battle about what occurred before.”
Official representatives, Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu, neither addressed calls nor reacted to isolate instant messages shipped off them looking for responses to the claim by the NEF that Buhari had flopped in all parts of administration.
