Today, at the Senate Wing of the National Assembly, Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi (PDP – Delta North) chaired a Joint Session of the National Assembly Committees on Niger Delta/NDDC as the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) defended its proposed budget for the year 2021.
In his capacity as the Senate Committee Chairman on Niger Delta, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi was joined by other members of the Committee such as His Excellency, Senator Dr Orji Uzor Kalu (APC – Abia North; Senator Clifford Odia (PDP – Edo Central);
Others include Senator Robert Ajayi Boroffice (APC – Ondo North); Senator Matthew Urhoghide (PDP – Edo South); Senator James Manager (PDP – Delta South) et al.
Lawmakers from the Green Chamber were led by the House Of Representatives Committee Chairman on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Hon Tunji Olubunmi Ojo ( APC – Akoko North East & North West Federal Constituency).
In his speech, the Sole Administrator of the NDDC, Mr Effiong Akwa noted that he is a practicing lawyer and a chartered accountant and therefore, knows the significance of budget as the agency cannot function in office properly without an annual budget even as he promised to be diligent and transparent in the discharge of his duties.
Responding, the Senate Committee Chairman on Niger Delta, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi remarked that the National Assembly Committees will hold the Sole Administrator by his words on trust and hopes for a cordial and efficient working relationship between the interventionist agency and the Federal Legislature.
The budget defence thrived under the most peaceful of environments with both bodies promising to support each other so as to ensure efficient and effective implementation of the 2021 budget.
The NDDC entourage was led by the newly appointed Sole Administrator of the interventionist agency, Mr Effiong Akwa who was accompanied by other top management staff of the parastatal.
