I deem my fit to express, a heartfelt gratitude to Nigeria union of Journalists, NUJ, Warri, for their numberious contributions and supports in my journey of activism over the years. Life is a journey, and it always have a starting point. My starting point of effective activism begins with NUJ Warri. They are very good people.
They build young interested youths in activism and politics. In a war, not only those firing the gun that fights the war, the cooks, the singers, the drummers, the drivers, the food carriers, the doctors etc, all are part of the war. I couldn’t have succeeded if not the strong supports of NUJ Warri. I didn’t had anything to offer them, but almost every reporter in Warri became my friend. I was humble and dogged. They found the trace of true activism in me and they gave me all the media backing and supports. I can’t quick to forget where I started my career from. I’m today climbing the ladder faster and I need to appreciate those who are instrumental to it. One good turn, deserved another. In a dancing festival, the drummers, the singers and clappers, all are dancers.
Those who set the ladder for you to climb be appreciated. Don’t push the ladder at them when you climb to the top, but if you do that the day you need the ladder to climb to other mountain, you will not see it to climb. Silver and gold, have I not but I must tell the world their good works. Between the tongue and the teeth, the tongue is the eldest but the teeth bites the tongue out of disrespect. The spoon that fed you when you were tasty, be respected. Life is like a tree, it can’t stand alone, except supported by the roots on the ground. A man can’t move faster than his shadow. I appreciate NUJ, Warri, for their love and many contributions.
However, my heartfelt gratitude goes to Emma Amaize, Vanguard south South editor… This man is like a father, I call him mentor, he gave me all the guardians till date. Another man who is also very dear to me is Emma Ogiogbe, he was first to use my story, and granted me a full page interview when he was working with daily Sun around 2006/2007. He gave me all the assistants. Also, I say a big thank you to Shola On’iel, the nation’s South South editor, he did his best to also gave my stories a national cloud. Sola Adebayor, was a big friend and supporter. Dele Fasan, the Warri senior respondent of Galax TV, he was first to gave me first national TV interview, and since then he never ceases from his services. HRM Monday Whiskey, now the Paramount ruler of Edjesieh kingdom was a perfect promoter. Papa Omorun of Niger Delta standard, Urhobotimes and now Delta newsroom is as well a father.
I also appreciate Nigerian Tribune, Ebenezer Adurokia, this man is a true brother, he calls me almost everytime to contribute on topical national issues and so much interested in my growth. Festus Ahon, gave all his media support. Papa Silvester Idowu of Thisday newspaper is equally a father as well. Cletus Opukeme, did his part as well. Late Timi Ebikagboro of DBS, also did his part. Victor Ayabotu did his part. Akpokona Omafuaire did his best. Joe Ogbodu of compass newspaper ,now bigpen online newspaper was second to have used my story on national paper.
Ekpanpou Ekenewaredideke was first to use my story in Ijawvoice news magazine. Hon. Sunny Apah ,under independent did his best as well. The guardian reporter in Warri, Theophilus of champions newspaper, they all did their best. Christopher, under Nigerian pilots did his best as well. Dele Ogundele of the nation’s newspaper, is a good friend and promoter. Jimitota of vanguard, did gave his best. Onome Ogbetuo of south-South magazine is another wonderful man.
Ejikeme Omenazu of Independent newspaper, Lagos, Obire of the guardians newspaper, Lagos. Okomina, the leadership correspondent,Yenagoa, Dele Ogunyemi of punch Warri, Obeden, Rona, Austin of DBS, Choice of Urhobotimes, Ezekiah and my guys at TVC, they all played their roles.
In the recent times, my Ijaw online publishers have equally done well, the likes of Jecob Abai, the publisher of Gbaramatuvoice newspaper, Princewill Binebai, publisher, the liberator newspaper, Ezekiel Kagbala, the CEO Focalpoint reports, Oyinbi Onduku, the publisher Niger Delta mirror, Mr. Abraye Freeborn, CEO the coastaltimes, Rex Akemeotubo, CEO Waffi TV, Tare Magbei, publisher daily reports, Mr. Friday Mingo, CEO,Egbemavoice, Mr. Ekpegha, South South daily, Mike Ugedi, Delta event TV among others that may unconsciously omitted.
Meanwhile, I happened to be the only Niger Delta youth who was so loved by all media houses, despite I don’t have anything to offer them. I became very fame and popular with the help of the media. This is divine and a special grace from God. I’m extremely grateful. It’s a journey of a thousand mile, but here we are today. At due times, I’ll pay a thank-you visit to NUJ Warri and other media houses to continue my appreciation and further seek more collaboratory efforts. I still need them to fulfill my dream. My dream is to liberate my people(Niger Delta region) from perpetual injustice and wears the big shoes of Nelson Mandela, Ibrahim Lincoln, Martin Luther, Kofi Anah, High chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, Pa Clark, late Chief DSP Alamieyesegha, Oronto Doglas, Late Pa Dappa Briye, Dr.Goodluck Jonathan and others.
Thank you all and God bless you!
