The Movement for the Survival of the Izon Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta, MOSIEND, has called on the Fact-finding Committee, which was set up by the National Security Adviser as a result of issues surrounding the Presidential Amnesty Programme, to convene a town hall meeting with stakeholders of the Izon nation and give explanations as to why a report was carried out and submitted to the Presidency without any stakeholder engagement.
The National President of MOSIEND, Comrade Kennedy Tonjo West, came out with this on Monday in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, during the inauguration of clan executive members of MOSIEND in Central Zone.
Mr. West, who frowned at the committee’s report that the sum of seven hundred and twelve billion Naira has been wasted on the Presidential Amnesty Programme, called on the National Security Adviser to explain to the people of the Niger Delta how his office managed about 400 billion Naira which has been released from 2015 till date to fund the programme under his watch.
While speaking about the ill practices in the oil and gas sector, West explained that the Izon people believe in resource ownership, and that the NNPC should direct the Multinational Oil Companies to immediately relocate to the Niger Delta region or forget about the oil deposited in the Niger Delta.
He also demanded the NNPC to publish the list of all the Oil Mining Lease, OML, so far award by the corporation and the names of the companies they were awarded to.
He noted that the Izon nation is tired of the agelong marginalization of the Niger Delta people and also called for an end to the exploitation of the region’s God-given resources, as well as military invasion of Izon communities.
The Central Zone clan executives were inaugurated by the Chairman of the National Elders Council, Elder T. K. Ogoriba, before a mammoth crowd of patriotic sons and daughters of the Izon nation who converged at Asters in Yenagoa.
Elder T. K. Ogoriba also charged the newly inaugurated executives of the various clans to show good leadership qualities and always put the Izon nation first.
