The group made a description about
the exit of the late hero, Captain Samuel OWONARU with a rude shock. His demise is a big blow to Ijaw nation. He was a shining star. The last pillar standing has fallen. He among others were the progenitors of Niger Delta struggle. Niger Delta struggle wouldn’t have been in view if not men like Owonaru, Adaka Boro etc. We have loss a rare germ. His demise is a monumental lost. It is sad and painful. Most painful is that he died especially at a time where his wealth of experience is needed most.
Owonaru good deeds and immense contributions in the Niger Delta struggle will be forever remembered. He was a proud son of Ijaw nation and Niger Delta at larger. Indeed his death has thrown the Ijaw nation into mourning. He was the only remaining soldier who fought for Niger Delta republic. He was together arrested with Adaka Boro, after the successful Kaiama Niger Delta republic declarations and promoted by the military to the position of military captain at the civil war.
He served Ijaw nation and Niger Delta meriterously. Captain OWONARU was a torch bearer in Niger Delta struggle until his death. He was an illustrious son of Ijaw nation. His meriterious services will be forever remembered.
We pray that May God almighty gives Owonaru family and Ijaw nation the fortitude to bear the irreparable lost.
